Cardiac Cycle Lanka 2017

Heart disease affects humans from the very beginning to the end of life and is one of the commonest causes of illness and premature death throughout the world. Charitable funding and support has been a vital component of the fight against heart disease and there can be no better example than the British Heart Foundation. Set up in 1961 by a group of medical professionals who wanted to fund extra research into prevention, diagnosis and treatment, the work of the BHF over nearly six decades has helped to transform the landscape of heart disease. Their vision is a world in which people do not die prematurely from any form of heart or circulatory disease and their goals are to increase the rate of early diagnosis and effective treatment of all types of heart disease and to support patients and their carers in the management of their condition.

Thank you for helping us to raise funds to support the work of the BHF by sponsoring our charity challenge. We will cycle from the southern to the northern tip of Sri Lanka (a distance of around 750km) over 9 days in June 2017. Our team comprises a group of friends and colleagues, most of whom spend their days treating patients with cardiac and other conditions and (before the start of this project) hadn't been on a bicycle regularly since leaving school! To read more about the project, please visit

100% of your donations will go to our chosen charities. All costs related to the project, including publicity, travel, accommodation and kit will be borne by the members of the team.

Thanks again for your generosity. Please feel free to leave a comment on this webpage and to spread the word to your friends/ on social media. If you would like any more information, please email
